It can play Sims on high (along with many, many other games), but the Sims just has it's limits. Let's delve into the mods part of your game and see if we can figure out what's causing the crashes. Maybe this is more of a question of mods then, I see no reason why your computer should not be able to handle a few mods, so maybe you got a corrupted download of the mod or haven't put it in the right place? Sometimes even having the wrong Resource.cfg file can lead to problems.
